Fertilizer grants

“We [Poland] are the only country in the European Union that uses grants for the purchase of fertilizers,” the Deputy Prime Minister reminded.

He emphasised that more than 418,000 farmers benefited from this mechanism, with the maximum amount of assistance being 500 zloty/ha.

Direct payments

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that, as of he new year, 97% of farms in Poland will receive direct payments, which are 2% higher than the EU average.

The Minister of Agriculture also said that, from October 15 to the end of November last year, 13 billion zloty in advance payments was transferred to farmers’ accounts.

“These achievements significantly improved the financial liquidity of farms,” Deputy Prime Minister Henryk Kowalczyk said.

National support

Summarizing the 2022 performance, the Minister of Agrarian Policy noted the support for farmers in the form of grants for agricultural fuel, for the activities of Farmers’ Associations, for harvest and livestock insurance and under the mechanisms arising from the promotion of retail trade in agricultural products (RTP).

National Food Group

Deputy Prime Minister Henryk Kowalczyk emphasised the stabilising role of the National Food Group.

“This already proved itself at the beginning of this year’s harvest, stabilising the market,” said the Minister of Agrarian Policy.

He also added that the National Food Group would be further strengthened by adding more structures to enable it to influence the stabilisation of other markets.

Agricultural product export performance

The year is not yet over, but data for the first 10 months indicate that the cost of exports will be higher than in 2021. “Over the first ten months, it amounted to 39.2 billion euros, while in 2021 it was almost 38 billion euros,” Deputy Prime Minister Henryk Kowalczyk said.
